Healing Earth Ways

Want to spend a morning reconnecting with nature and let the beauty and calm of an ancient woodland melt away all your troubles and infuse your whole being with peace and joy? Join me last Saturday of every month 10am til 1pm at Clowes Wood near Solihull for Forest Bathing sessions (no nudity or swimming costumes required!). Also known as Shinrin-Yoku, these sessions are a way of injecting some fun into mindfulness – instead of sitting on a cushion driving yourself crazy watching your mind's unruly antics, you get to mindfully explore the natural world and discover wonders and mysteries as you encounter familiar things in new ways. You'll be guided through a sequence of gentle activities which invite you to playfully explore each of your senses in turn, expanding your usual range of perception and slowing you right down to experience existence at nature's pace – what I call “Forest Time”. This shifts us into a different brainwave state, giving us access to more calm, creativity, intuition and “flow”. Who am I?

My name is Lizzy and I'm a personal rewilding specialist and artist, offering soul-nourishing experiences in nature in the West Midlands – primarily Forest Bathing at the moment, with plans to offer seasonal workshops on plant fibre crafts and ceremony from 2024. I'm also currently developing a deeper-dive course integrating deep nature connection, wild crafts and ceremonial artmaking. My approach to teaching nature connection in all its forms incorporates what I've learned from the various perspectives and disciplines I've trained in over the past ten years, including 8 years studying 1:1 with a Tibetan Buddhist teacher, practical ethnobotany and tracking training from Ray Mears's ex right hand man (who now runs the Woodcraft School in Sussex), a Rewilding Apprenticeship with renowned “plant whisperer” Rachel Corby, bushcraft taught within the 8 Shields framework of nature connection from the US, the School of Lost Borders approach to wilderness rites of passage, Bill Plotkin's EcoCentric Wheel of Human Development, and most recently personal development through deep connection practices from the Helpers Mentoring Society.
